Hard Workers know who we are.  Carter Industries has been building hard working truck bodies for over 40 years.  Since our birth in San Mateo, CA back in 1961, we've grown to become a leader in the truck body industry.  Our state of the art, world class manufacturing facility occupies over 65,000 square ft. and we utilize the latest in technolgy and equipment.  Carter truck bodies can handle just about anything.  They're built tough for maximum performance and service life.  We are one of America's leading Chevrolet, GMC and Ford upfitters.

Additionally, Carter is a factory authorized converter for Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, and Dodge. We are also a member of Road~Redi®, a nationwide service with access to truck bodies, equipment, and upfitted trucks and vans through a network of Ford and GM bailment pools.

Striving to continuously improve our high level of customer satisfaction, approximately 35,000 square feet is dedicated to fabrication and manufacturing alone. Up to 22 chassis and 12 vans can be upfitted simultaneously with processes such as shearing, forming, punching, plasma cutting, and mig/tig welding.

The main shop floor includes four individual overhead crane systems, and advanced waste water treatment system, three paint booths-two for conventional spray painting and one for powder coating with a capacity of up to 18 feet in length. An additional 17,000 square feet is dedicated to warehouse space. Our operations are continuously expanding. Turn key systems include administration, sales, training, CAD design/engineering, service, and manufacturing.

Quality control is paramount at Carter and our QC staff thoroughly inspects each vehicle after detailing prior to delivery. A 4,500 square foot showroom with parts counter, provides a complete line of accessories for walk-in retail customers.  We offer guaranteed installation and service on the products that we sell. Carter also provides a dealer demonstrator vehicle available for immediate service.

With over eight acres of vehicle capacity, we maintain an incredible inventory of up to 600 trucks, vans, and equipment, including custom bodies, drop-side truck bodies, dump and landscape bodies, and utility and flatbed bodies. Additionally, Carter represents the top names of complete equipment lines for racks and toolboxes, cranes, winches, hoists, liftgates and ramps.
